Before I walk into a courtroom as a judge on the Court of Appeals, I put on a black robe.  Each time I button the robe, I remember the essence of being a judge: to do justice.  It is no simple task.  To do justice, a judge must listen intently.  A judge should understand not just the written law, but the circumstances of the people who come before the court.  And a judge must treat all with respect.  I bring broad experience to our justice system.  I bring compassion, knowledge, and an appreciation for the circumstances of those who appear before us.  I bring a track record as a trusted decision-maker.

I ask for your support for my continued service on the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

And we learn from the community as well—as we did yesterday when our judges met with students at Central Lakes College here in Brainerd."
